Nick Thornton is convinced it's going to be the worst summer ever.

The Thornton family vacation has been canceled and Nick's parents are sending him to live in the middle of nowhere with an uncle he hardly knows.

When Nick starts exploring the lake and woods around his uncle's cabin, he meets two kids from town. Together, they uncover a trail of clues about a mysterious bank robbery and a stolen invention.
