H.M. Lawson is an award-winning writer and educator who values the art of expression through paint, music, and words. She has lived in Michigan, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, and France. Since childhood, Lawson has loved exploration—whether real, imagined, or discovered in a book. During her childhood, she spent hours exploring the fields and river near her Midwest home. Fueled by her imagination and a backpack full of snacks, she and her sister were pioneers, archaeologists, and treasure hunters. These early years of pretending paved the way to a passion for storytelling.
Lawson does her best writing in a room crammed with books and a cuckoo clock. Lawson creates worlds where kids run free, small details lead to profound discoveries, and characters embark on adventures without video games. She is married to a chef who disguises himself as an IT Director and they have two funny, talented kids who are her inspiration.
H.M. Lawson holds a B.A in Art Education from the University of Illinois and an M.A. from St. Xavier University. In 2024, she created Wilson Lindberg Books, LLC. Lawson specializes in self-deprecating comedies, quirky short-stories, and tales of adventure.
The Mystery in Mapleton is her debut novel.
